Single-Camera Production:

A mode of production where one camera operates at a time and the shots are done in the most economically efficient order. Also single-camera techniques normally involves taking shots in a sequence, for example, 2,4,6,8 then once they have taken these shots they edit it with the other scenes that they have taken. The single-camera setup, is a method of shooting films and different television programs. Some advantages of single-camera are as follows;
  • You can take different multiple shots.
  • It allows you to take shots from different angles.
  • Single-camera is cheaper than a multiple camera.
  • It is easier to edit the scenes together.
Some disadvantages of using single-camera techniques are as follows;
  • It takes longer to film.
  • You can only get one angle at one time.
  • It takes a lot more time to edit and put it together.
Some examples of TV shows/programmes that use single-camera techniques are as follows;
  • Eastenders
  • Big Band Theory
  • Corrination Street
  • Hollyoaks
  • Come Dine With Me

Sci Fi - Doctor Who

Comedy - The Vicar Of Dibley

Crime - CSI

Period Drama - The Tudors

Teen - Vampire Diaries

Thriller - Hunted

Prezi - MoodBoard

Thursday 22/11/12 - Location and Risk Assessment

Location and Risk Assessment

  • Sidney Stringer Academy - We will be filming part of the film at Sidney Stringer Academy because part of the film will contain bullying scenes at a school. We will be using classrooms, the playground, restaurant and cafe. We choose to hold the bullying at a school because that is where the typical bullying takes place. Also throughout the film we can try and raise awareness of bullying so by doing the bullying scene at a school this will help to raise awareness. Also at a school there are loads of students which will help make the bullying scene realistic and make the film intense.
Risk of Filming At Sidney Stringer Academy: - Filming at Sidney Stringer can hold loads of risks that could harm equipment or even the actors that are taking part in the film. We could be filming at a time when students are changing over for lessons, already this holds lots of risks. These risks are;
  • Students running around in corridors - When lesson change takes place students tend to run around corridors messing around, straight away a high risk of students and actors being pushed into one another. To solve this we could have to film before or after lesson change and when lesson change takes place, pack up any equipment that is left laying around and out away until corridors become less packed and safe to continue with filming.

  • Students could knock over equipment and break them - When students are running they tend not to look where they are going and if we have equipment out for filming then running students could possibly knock over the equipment and could even break them. The equipment that we will be using will not be cheap and will need to be looked after really well so to resolve this risk we will need to be careful where we place our equipment when not using them.
Classroom Risk: - Filming in a classroom can hold many risks for equipment and even the actors. A classroom can be a small place to film and filling the classroom up with students and equipment this could lead to different risks such as;
  • Falling Over Tables - Filming in a classroom surrounded by tables could hold the risk of camera crew, students and actors to fall over the tables. By falling over the tables equipment can break and actors/students could get seriously hurt. To resolve this problem, when filming or acting you to get used to your surroundings and know where everything is so when it comes to filming you know when to move and where stopping the risk of injury or breakage of equipment.

  • Standing On Chairs - When filming in a classroom at some point the camera crew may need to stand on chairs to get a view of the classroom/actors form a higher angle but already by filming like this a risk on falling off the chair is a high chance. To resolve this risk the camera crew should get a steady stool that is used to stand on so the camera crew is at a safer risk. Also leaning over form a high angle with a camera in someones hand can hold the risk of the camera falling out of their hand and onto the floor or even a student or actors head. To stop this risk from happening the camera crew need to make sure that the camera has a hand strap on and it strapped onto their hand as tight as possibly but still able to feel comfortable holing the camera.
Playground Risk: - Filming out on the Academy playground can hold potential risks for camera crew, actors and students. We will be filming on the playground during the Academy lunch/break time, therefore there will be students running around the playground. Also there will be students playing with footballs and other P.E equipment. The risks that could happen whilst filming on the playground are as follows;

  • Students Running - Whilst filming on the Academy playground, students are likely to fall over equipment or bump into the actors as a result of running. to resolve this problem we will need to let students know that there will be filming going on and to keep away from the area where filming is taking place.

  • Equipment Getting Damaged - Students tend to play with footballs and other sports equipment at break time and this holds the risk of students damaging the filming equipment by kicking footballs over towards the filming area. to resolve this problem we need to make sure our filming area is in a reasonable distance range from the students who are playing.

Thursday 22/11/2012 - Equipment List

List Of Equipment That Will Be Needed:

  • Camera - We need to have a camera so that we are able to create and produce our film. the camera will be our all seeing eye.

  • Try-pod - We may need to have a try-pod so that when we are filming a certain scene, we can use the try-pod and attach the camera to the try-pod in order to keep the camera still.

  • costumes - Costumes make the film more imaginative and more created. Also it will allow the characters to get into role play and by doing this, this will make the film look more realistic. Also costumes can give of an impression as to what personalities the characters may have.

  • Classroom - We need to use a classroom in order to do filming for our film. The classroom is where most of the filming will be done for the bullying scenes.

  • Paper - We need to use paper so that the main actor can hold up bits of paper with words on at the end of the film.

  • School Bag - The school bag will make the film feel more at school and give the idea of the things that bullies can do. In our film at one point a group of students will throw the actors bag across the corridor and leave her on the floor.
