Single-Camera Production:

A mode of production where one camera operates at a time and the shots are done in the most economically efficient order. Also single-camera techniques normally involves taking shots in a sequence, for example, 2,4,6,8 then once they have taken these shots they edit it with the other scenes that they have taken. The single-camera setup, is a method of shooting films and different television programs. Some advantages of single-camera are as follows;
  • You can take different multiple shots.
  • It allows you to take shots from different angles.
  • Single-camera is cheaper than a multiple camera.
  • It is easier to edit the scenes together.
Some disadvantages of using single-camera techniques are as follows;
  • It takes longer to film.
  • You can only get one angle at one time.
  • It takes a lot more time to edit and put it together.
Some examples of TV shows/programmes that use single-camera techniques are as follows;
  • Eastenders
  • Big Band Theory
  • Corrination Street
  • Hollyoaks
  • Come Dine With Me
